Moving PaintIt feels natural for me to express the dynamic movement in what I create. When I paint, I stand and move back and forth from the canvas. My intent is focused on capturing the personality of the landscape I’m working on. If I can bring all the senses together plus something else I can’t explain, then I’ve got something. Summer camp and my parents’ farm are the places that I fell in love with nature and further opened my visual world. After I graduated from the illustration program at Sheridan College, I worked as an illustrator for over ten years. When I became disenchanted with commercial work, I decided to focus on painting the landscape I travel and live in. My memories of camping and my love for the outdoors were the prime catalysts for my partnering with AMICI. Established in 1966, AMICI is a registered charitable organization which sponsors and sends underprivileged kids to accredited Ontario camps. In support of this organization, I have had annual exhibits for the past seven years at the 424 Wellington, Mountain Equipment Co-op and The Women’s Art Association. A portion of the sales is donated to AMICI. I recently moved to Dunedin, Ontario, a beautiful valley 1 and 1/2 hours north of Toronto. I continue to be inspired by my everyday surroundings with the Bruce Trail in my backyard.
